Note: make sure you check out both the Giveaway details and the Special Offer listed below the interview. All you have to do is leave a comment for a chance to win a copy of Adam & Ryan’s complete Bodyweight Burn program.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to interview Adam Steer and Ryan Murdock, who are known around these parts as the “Bodyweight Coaches.” I’ve known these fellas for awhile now, and have actually interviewed them both separately in the past (Adam’s interviews are here and here, and Ryan’s is here). But it’s been a few years, and truth be told, I’ve been meaning to get both of them on the phone for awhile now.

You see, these days, Adam and Ryan have been collaborating on a variety of projects in the bodyweight training realm. And given that a lot of you are interested in both bodyweight training and fat loss, I thought it would be good to get both of them on the phone to talk training for a bit. More specifically, to talk bodyweight training for home fitness and fat loss. And that’s just what we did. I sent them a list of questions, got on Skype, and we talked for over an hour to give you some ideas on how to leverage bodyweight training combined with some key nutrition and lifestyle strategies to help you burn fat and get lean at home.

There’s some really good info, a few key insights (aka golden nuggets), and tons of ideas to help you in your efforts to create a healthier, stronger, leaner you – right from home. Plus, perhaps most valuable of all, is some good ol’ fashioned perspective (aka a reality check). So, if that’s something that would interest you, have a listen!

The Bodyweight Burn Giveaway

First things first, Adam agreed to let me give away one copy of the Bodyweight Burn program to one lucky person here on Physical Living. So, here’s what we’re going to do. Anyone and everyone who leaves a comment on this page will be entered in a random prize drawing, which will expire on Monday, May 27th at midnight EST. After all the entries are in, I will select one winner at random who will be given access to the complete Bodyweight Burn program – including all special bonuses – free of charge.

So, all you have to do is leave a comment below to be entered into the giveaway. You could tell us what you learned from the interview, or what you’re going to implement, or ask a question about bodyweight training or fat loss at home. Just leave a comment, and you’ll be entered. I know. I’m making this too easy.

From now until Monday, May 27th, 2013 at midnight PST, if you order Adam & Ryan’s Bodyweight Burn Program, you can get it at a significant discount and with some special bonuses. 1. Is the bodyweight program similar to any of Scott Sonnon’s tacfit programs i.e. commando and warrior?

    1. Keith,

There are some similarities, yes. Both Adam and Ryan were deeply involved with Scott’s organization awhile back. I met them at my first CST Instructor certification back in 2009. Adam was a CST Head Coach and Ryan one of the RMAX Faculty Coaches. So, they both worked directly with Scott and there are some congruences in their products. I haven’t taken a close enough look at Bodyweight Burn to know all the similarities and differences, but I can tell you that BB is more geared towards the general population (e.g. the weight loss market) than Scott’s TACFIT products are.

  2. Interesting interview, useful points – will be able to take away some of this and think about my current training. Thanks!

    1. Sorry to hear that, Ronda. I’m not much of a techie, but have you tried a different Internet browser? I just double-checked, and it’s working for me in Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer. So, that’s the first thing I’d try.

Also, it’s an MP3 audio file, and my PC uses the Quicktime program to stream the audio. So, if a different browser doesn’t work, then updating your audio player might do the trick. Other than that, I’m at a loss. I’m sorry for the inconvenience. But hey, on the bright side, you’re now entered into the running for the Bodyweight Burn program. And so far, the odds are pretty good :)

  3. Hi John – this looks like a great program. I didn’t grab it last time around because I wasn’t sure how much it overlapped with Ryan & Adam’s other programs? I’m still not sure but I’ve got several of their other programs which are fabulous (BER, BBFL, Stage Crazy). I’m still worried about duplication of exercises but, at this price, its a no-brainer even tho i already own most of the bonuses they are offering here.
Any additional info comparing BB to their other programs would be helpful (see you get penalized with requests/questions for being a nice guy & offering their program on your site). Thanks a lot!!

  4. John – I just listened to the interview and it is great!! Since I have a lot of Adam & Ryan’s programs as well as some from RMAX, the main attraction for me is their Carb-Sync Diet. I would like to know in advance if possible if this diet is possible for me to do as a vegetarian? If so, I’m all in. Thanks again!

    1. Hey Paul,

I didn’t read the whole thing (about 50 pages total), but I did take a quick peek at the Carb-Sync diet for you this morning.

At its very essence, this is a calorie restriction, carb cycling, and balanced eating plan that was created to go along with the Bodyweight Burn program. The workouts are meant to coincide with the eating plan, and vice versa. So, personally, I wouldn’t buy the program just for the diet component unless you were actually going to use the training program at some point, too.

I think Carb-Sync can be used by vegetarians, but you should know that it wasn’t created or written with vegetarians in mind and it doesn’t include any special instructions/considerations for vegetarians either. So, it can be done, but you will need to do a little extra leg work. For example, you’ll need to figure out how you’re going to meet your protein requirements, among other things.

Also, this is just my opinion, and I’m certainly not a nutrition/diet expert, but I think that this is a decent start into a moderate/balanced approach for nutrition (ie if you’re ok with an occasional 24 hour fast – optional). That said, it’s more of a beginners guide, and eventually, you would probably want and need a bit more specific instruction and knowledge to personalize your nutrition regime. That’s when a product like Tom Venuto’s Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle might come in, which is a comprehensive and fully-customizable nutrition system that has been used by many vegetarians quite successfully.

Let me know if you have any further questions – happy to help.

      John

      1. John thanks for being so thorough and helpful in your answer about nutrition and Carb Sync Diet. Really very good. What about any carry over with the exercises from their previous BW programs? Can you address that or I can shoot an email to Adam. Thanks again!

  5. This sounds like the bee’s knees. Not having access to a gym membership or a decent set of weights at home, bodyweight exercises seems to be the best solution to my need to exercise. Best regards to you John and to the coaches,

  6. Well, in the last year I have been discovering so much about how body weight programs work and I must say that I am a huge fan. I love the varity and the actual use of the whole body. Most importantly for me it is fun and that has been a huge reason why I have been consistent. For the first time I view working out as fun. These guys (and you John) are extremely intelligent when it comes to working out and I am just soaking up the knowledge as fast as you can lay it down! No questions for me just acknowledgment that you guys are masters of your craft!

  7. Hi John, nice interview this sounds like a great product. I’ve been using a mixture of Acupuncture, yoga, and body weight exercise to recover from a back injury and resulting chronic back pain, and your site has been inspirational in many ways, so thank you!

  8. I am a 40 year old woman that has lost 50 pounds and needs to lose another (currently 288 pounds) 88-108 pounds. Is the program good for someone whom isnt quite athletic just yet? It would be awesome to win the giveaway…..

  9. GIVEAWAY WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT

At last, the winner has been selected by random drawing. And the winner is…

Matt (commented on May 25, 2013 at 3:10 pm)

Please check your email for instructions on how to claim your free copy of the Bodyweight Burn program. Enjoy!

  10. Thanks so much to John, Ryan, and Adam.

I wanted to post a followup about Bodyweight Burn because I am now in the middle of the second phase and have had a really great experience with it! The amount and quality of information in this thing is excellent, and I’ve lost 20 lbs.

At first I didn’t quite know how to approach a few of the workouts. I couldn’t do pushups for 40 seconds straight at first, for example. But once I got over the initial hump and figured out how to pace myself, I could see my progress start to pile up. Not only in fat loss, but I’ve gained so much strength its surprising.

I’m really impressed with BB. Thanks again guys for doing the giveaway, I plan on getting the Bodyweight Exercise Revolution when I’m finished with the second phase of BB, and I will pick up anything else you release in the future.

Any other suggestions on what to move on to after something like Bodyweight Burn from anyone else would be much appreciated too!

    1. It’s great to hear from you, Matt! And well done so far. I’m glad to hear that you’ve enjoyed Bodyweight Burn. It’s a good program that will deliver the results for those who work for it. Thanks for checking in and keep up the great work.

      John

P.S. If you like Bodyweight Burn, then you’d also enjoy Bodyweight Exercise Revolution and probably some of Scott Sonnon’s bodyweight training programs, too (Primal Stress, TACFIT Commando, etc.).
